v Aikido – “The Way of Harmony through Conflict”
o Franco Acquaro-sensei holds the rank of Godan black belt (5th degree). He began his study of Aikido in 1986. His principle teachers were Shizuo Imaizumi-sensei (Shin-Budo Kai) and Mark Leidig-sensei (School of Inner Martial Arts).
o Acquaro-sensei is currently the Chief Instructor of an independent Aikido school (Kealamakani Aikido), which remains in close association with Mark Leidig-sensei. They have just celebrated the 11th anniversary of the dojo in Waimea!
o Aikido classes are currently being offered on Tuesday & Thursday evenings (6:00-7:30 pm) at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea.
v Karate-do – “The Way of the Empty Hand”
o Franco Acquaro-sensei holds the rank of Sandan black belt (3rd degree) in Kobayashi Shorin-ryu Karate-do/Matayoshi Kobudo. He began his study of Karate-do/Kobudo in 1979. His principle teachers were Tadashi Yamashita-sensei and Bobby Polychronopoulos-sensei.
o No Karate-do/Kobudo classes are currently being offered.
v Judo – “The Gentle Way”
o Franco Acquaro-sensei was a competitive Judo player for six years. He began his study of Judo in 1982. His principle teachers were Olymic Coach John Wiercinski-sensei (USJA) and Jaime Garza-sensei (Kyu Shin Ryu). Acquaro-sensei is a Life Member of the United States Judo Association.
o No Judo classes are currently being offered.
